RENAISSANCE — a revival of architecture, art and culture; a transition; a rebirth. These are the very things that inspired the charter members of the Orleans Renaissance Group, Inc., a volunteer not-for-profit organization founded in 1997. It is a part of a larger spirit of rebirth and revival that has taken hold in the Village of Medina, a community rich in history and its contributions to that which made our nation grow and prosper. By hosting several concerts in the past ten years, including jazz, chamber music and full orchestral events, the ORG has experienced a greater demand for bringing talented performers to this region.
It is right and fitting that the Renaissance Group has taken the initiative in this spirit to bring a rebirth to one of Medina's true treasures: the Bent's Opera House. Bent's Opera House is one of the oldest surviving theaters in the entire nation, having been built at the height of the US Civil War. Members of the Orleans Renaissance Group have taken on the daunting task of restoring the Opera House to its original condition so future generations can enjoy artistic performances similar to those experienced over 100 years ago. |
Orleans Renaissance Group, Inc. is a non-profit organization which relies on tax-deductible contributions to make these events possible. Board of Directors are as follows:
